Testament (2) – Low

As far as the pressing is concerned: what a gem! Vinyl sounds great.
Musicwise this one is an outstanding Testmament-recording, yet it has (rightfully) failed to become a Testament classic. In my ears it is obvious that the band decided to get some things changed prior to this recording and as a result traded in some of the quite unique band-identity. Gone are the traces of rock'n roll still detectable in earlier Testament productions. The production is massive, Tempesta delivers a technically (though a bit blue-print) performance, and Chuck's Voice has got a death metal vibe to it. Some of the songs are challenging and elaborate as well as catchy at the same time ("Low", "Hail Mary", Trail of Tears"). I that most revies back in the day sang praises to the quality of the album, and even listening to it today, I do not have many things to complain about... apart from the decisive aspect, that this one does not really grab me on an emotional level, though it might have been a logic choice for the band to make this album as it is.

a good pressing no doubt but the mix is weird. the guitars are not as present as they are on other versions. this really was only noticeable on some songs like Hail Mary. the guitar fills and runs on Hail Mary take the backseat unfortunately. not a bad press but that is a bit of a bummer. killer shit tho

I have played this version many times and it sounds magnificent. I always wet clean my vinyl because factory debris and soap from the pressing matrices can deteriorate sound. I have now also bought the black Music On Vinyl version to compare with, and it might sound even slightly better and punchier, but it's not a world of difference that would justify critisizing this pressing. And the colour is orange transparent, not gold. It's beautiful and perfectly matches the colour of the cover art as it should.

Crank it!! Another great job from Music on Vinyl.. plays flat, instrument separation, great dynamics on my system, Audio Technica 120.. highly recommended as it packs a punch, what more could you want !!!

I have no clue as to why there are some many bad reviews for this and the ritual reissue, I listen to these two presses rather frequently, it does need a good wash after opening and maybe a over with a fine cleaning brush (7$ on ebay). It plays very well and sounds exceptional, with no static or clicks after cleaning, just have to put in a little effort to make it sound its best.

Best sounding version of my favourite album from the mighty Testament.

Is it just me, or the black vinyl version (Music on Vinyl) have a horrible sound/mastering? I bought it yesterday and noticed the "screaming" guitar sound, in comparation with the CD version the complete sound is harsh, distirbing and lack of depth...
