Sound wise a pleasure, breathtaking bass and detail. But it is a shame that the discs are warped and not centered. The latter is audible at 45 rpm

Edited 7 years agoThis edition could have done with better quality control. The first copy I got had pimples on side C. The second copy had a visible and audible scratch on side B. The third copy is warped on the first record. It's a small but quick warp. I had to increase the tracking mass to stop/minimise a bumping sound at the beginning of both sides. So it appears for me to be a case of getting a copy that will do rather than a getting great copy. It sounds great though.

Additionally, this recording has very little dynamic range compression (1.2 as measured by DRC-Meter).

These limited edition, numbered, 45 rpm half-speed master editions are awesome. They are whisper quiet and have a very strong signal (+1.5 dB on my scale). They also come with a free digital and you can select 24-bit, 48 kHz hi-resolution versions. In addition the LPs come in beautiful gatefold jackets (even if the original album was not gatefold). They are produced directly by Peter Gabriel’s company and so they are done right. These albums are my most prized and loved possessions.
I am a huge Peter Gabriel fan and had to get them all. Up is an album that I grew to like more, the more I listened to it. My favorite track is “Growing Up” but I also quite like the humorous “The Barry Williams Show”. As with all the others the production and mastering on this version is precisely perfect—a joy to listen to.

Have to say, the quality of these reissues is simply fabulous. The sound is breathtaking. Begs the question, if this level of sound can be achieved, why isn't every vinyl release like this? Are we buying substandard most of the time?!

This is actually 3xLP, not 2xLP, according to the sticker on the front of mine. So is the new issue of US as well - the So issue is 2xLP.
