This EP was released when the Rhythm Masters were at their peak in of remixes and productions: they literally killed everything with their crazy yet storming formula. So of course this EP is one of the many proofs and definitely a contender for the best ever Rhythm Masters release. Here we have 2 ts similarly structured but with different grooves. First "Psycho", a stomping rerub of "Disco Circus" in typical RM style: thumping beats, excessive filtering and a lot of magical production effects. That buildup is otherworldly. A straightforward tune but man the energy in that track never ceases, works every time on the dancefloor. On the flip is "Oriental Cyber Phunk", as I was saying it has a similar structure but not the same groove. It’s more versatile than "Psycho" for sure, but once again the production is phenomenal. Every time I listen to a Rhythm Masters track/remix, I say to myself that these guys are wizards! How could they do such craziness with the material at that time? So yes, this is surely one of the best things they’ve pulled in their career and a great example of the banging RM sound. The whole Dis-Funktional catalogue is also worth-checking. Let’s not forget the fact that this record was ed by the likes of Carl Cox, DJ Dan, Armand Van Helden, Terry Mullan, Roger Sanchez, Bad Boy Bill, Erick Morillo and many, many more…

Psycho is a great track. Rhythm Masters also remixed Stefano Gamma - Street Guitar - which is also excellent https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/Stefano-Gamma-Aka-The-Knowledge-Featuring-Alex-Morelli-Street-Guitar/release/18044

Edited 18 years agoThis is a corker of a track with very heavy bass and beats over... yes a 'disco circus' sample that somehow transcends into one of those rare records that sits well between house or techno and is a great bridge from a techier house set to a full on techno one.
