Notes
2CD bootleg that has been circulating amongst Clash fans for a long time: CD1 is the infamous Mick Jones version of the eventual album "Combat Rock", commonly referred to as "Rat Patrol From Fort Bragg." CD2 features a number of related outtakes, instrumentals, and live tracks from the Combat Rock/RPFFB era.
On the first two tracks of CD1 the names in parentheses are alternate titles.
Almost all of these tracks feature different arrangements, alternate lyrics, extra verses, or a combination of the three, when compared with the versions eventually released-- in addition to the tracks that were never released in the first place.
-Some controversy exists as to whether the track known as "Walk Evil Talk" has anything at all to do with the Clash, but it is impossible to tell-- the song features no lyrics, nor does anyone have any idea who is playing on it.
-Track 1-14 is an instrumental outtake.
-Track 1-15 is the same as the version eventually released on the Combat Rock LP.
-Tracks 1-16 and 1-17 are the same as they were released.
-Track 1-18, 2-18, and 2-19 are the same as the ones on Disc 3 of the "Clash On Broadway" boxset.
-Track 2-1 recorded live at Shea Stadium, New York, in October 1982.
-Track 2-12 is the same as was released.
-Track 2-13 is mislabeled: The track is actually the same as the one eventually put on Combat Rock. The 'no flushes' refers to the infamous toilet bowl commercial that is featured in "Inoculated City." It has nothing to do with "Overpowered by Funk."
-Tracks 2-16 and 2-17 are nearly identical to their corresponding tracks on CD1.

Edited one month agoAs combat rock is my favourite clash album this happens to be my favourite non-live clash bootleg of all time. Top sound quality, lots of alternative versions, unreleased songs etc. Amazing some of the stuff they cut from the album. They should of let Mick Jones have his 2xLP masterpiece. But you cant get that so this is the next best thing. The only downside is the song order might not be what Mick had planned?...If you see it get it.

Did anybody happen to get a lossless rip of the acetate that went up for auction? We need an upgrade!

Edited 2 years agoI have this release and it matches exactly with the images provided here. However, track 14 on the first disc - Overpowered By Funk (Demo) - is missing. I'm assuming this is the case with this specific release but have never seen it mentioned. Anyone else notice this?

The track order Mick Jones originally intended for the album is:
Side 1:

Ghetto Defendent
Sean Flynn
Side 3:
