Edited one month agoAs combat rock is my favourite clash album this happens to be my favourite non-live clash bootleg of all time. Top sound quality, lots of alternative versions, unreleased songs etc. Amazing some of the stuff they cut from the album. They should of let Mick Jones have his 2xLP masterpiece. But you cant get that so this is the next best thing. The only downside is the song order might not be what Mick had planned?...If you see it get it.

Did anybody happen to get a lossless rip of the acetate that went up for auction? We need an upgrade!

Edited 2 years agoI have this release and it matches exactly with the images provided here. However, track 14 on the first disc - Overpowered By Funk (Demo) - is missing. I'm assuming this is the case with this specific release but have never seen it mentioned. Anyone else notice this?

Side 3:

First Night Back In London
Side 4:

Death Is A Star
Cool Confusion

Anyone got a copy for sale at a reasonable price? If so a message drop would be very much appreciated... blocked on here, but versions recently available on eBay, go figure!! Cheers

Decent sounding boot. Some tracks could have used better sources. I really don’t understand how they didn’t put ANY version of Straight to Hell on here though. The original mix Mick Jones did is on Clash on Broadway, and included on every CD boot I’ve had of this. It’s a great version and would have made this release much better.

In 1981 THE CLASH recorded what should have been released as "Rat Patrol From Fort Bragg" but was released in 1982 as "Combat Rock". The original version of "Rat Patrol From Fort Bragg" was produced by Mick Jones and is nowadays known as "the original Combat Rock".
The LP Presented here It is made up of the original recordings by Mick Jones of what would become the Combat Rock album. A lot of these songs never saw the light of day and the original mixes were never used either due to the struggles and fighting that the band was starting to experience at this point in time. This version also includes some extremely rare tracks including one song featuring Ranking Roger from The Beat on vocals. This material truly is a must have for any Clash fan. Also included are instrumental tracks from many of the tracks that were on Combat Rock.
