I have the 2015 2LP 45RPM MOFI box set, I compared this pressing to that and this does a fantastic job replicating at least. Fantastic sound for a $20 press, if you want and even bigger upgrade that’s where it becomes more expensive.

Edited one year agoI just picked up a mint copy today because it has KPG on the dead wax, thinking it would be another great AAA remaster like so many he has done over the years. After cleaning and dropped needle, not even in first 3 minutes I could barely listen any more. There is no energy no impact, smallish space, basically flat and boring, worse than the awful MoFi 2x45 I used to own. My 80’s Canadian reissue (can be found at C$20-25 these days) spank this copy in every aspect. Maybe this one is from digital source, or could be my particular copy? Anyways I will get rid of it tomorrow.

I just listened to a bit of this pressing and to my ears it's not my favorite. Drums are way too emphasized in the mastering and low end is super muddy.

I have never heard an original pressing. This one sounds crisp and articulate. I enjoy it. Good value for money.

My copy of Kind of Blue is really nice. I'm not an audiophile but it seems to me that with ALL new vinyl It's always a crap shoot. At the end of the day, if you buy from a national retailer and you get something that doesn't meet your standards, you can at least easily return for a refund. The reality is that an original or even seventies pressing will cost you as much or more and is likely to be FAR noisier than this new (if you can get a good one) unless it's sold as mint. The number of utterly crappy "NM" and VG+ experiences I have had has driven me back to buying new for all but the most historically relevant recordings for me at least and it's been a much better experience since doing that. This is a great buy for someone that doesn't want to get snagged up in buying an older version of this record that might have been better quality in its day but has suffered through time and is now in middling condition. Still available for as little as $23 from Best Buy and on that basis I give it a strong thumbs up. Recommended!

I picked this up at a box store yesterday (9-19-20) and took it home for a needle drop. I couldn't get past the first 50 seconds on "so what". Right when the horns chorus came in there was a God awful scratching sound in the left channel. Cleaned the record using a spin clean, and then used the antistatic brush attached to my turntable (dustbug). Gave another listen and still has the God awful scratching sound in the left channel. Played a '62 (2 eye) and didn't have that problem. Took it back for a refund, but sadly the store was all out. Noticed this one is pressed by MPO (but rather than scribing MPO in the deadwax, there was a die stamped logo). C'mon MPO you can do better than that!
