Does the sticker even belong to this edition? You can't see a barcode on the pictures, where is it supposed to be? I received a copy today, same cat.# same runouts. Cover same as on the pictures.
Difference: very dark blue on the labels. No blue sticker, no barcode. No inner sleeve or insert with lyrics but a 12 side cd-booklet in colour with lyrics and pictures. Bought in 2022 from a german online shop. New entry? -
Hoping my review of the Dicristina pressing will offset some of the earlier negative reviews. I bought this one sealed two years ago, back when it was still a $20 record. I figured even if it was a noisy as folks were saying, it’d be a nice placeholder copy until another pressing hit the market. But after unsealing it and cleaning gently, I put it on and it’s some of the quietest vinyl I’ve ever heard. I don’t have an original to compare it to, so I can’t speak to how the mastering compares, but it sounds excellent to my ear. And again: no surface noise, no pops, nothin’. If you’re considering buying this pressing, but you’re sweating those early complaints, I really wouldn’t worry about it at all.

Edited 5 years agoAs I finally find a copy of this I can now compare it to the newer Branch Music reissue.
Most important to note I think is the similarities, they really are close in of sound. I often second guess myself on any differences I thought to hear at all, but ultimately I think the edge if anything would go to the Dicristina Golden cut. There seems to be a slightly more vibrant sound to it, although perhaps Im fooled by it being slightly louder overall? Also, the separation of instruments on some tracks seems slightly superior here on the Golden release.
Again, these are very minor at best and whats really important in this case I feel is to have a quiet playing copy, which my Golden isnt so much when compared to the Branch, but thats neither here nor there since mine was bought used and looks somewhat worn.
The Branch does also feel a little nicer with its 180 grams of mass however and the vinyl really is dead quiet.
Speaking of cosmetics though, the sleeves are rather different unlike the sound. The Branch sporting a more blue tint while the Dicristina is greener. I like the cardboard stock for the older Golden reissue but the smoother and shinier paper of the Branch is also great. The newer also has slightly crisper areas on the image, like the title text.
Ultimately both will suit most people, but if you want the best of these reissues then you might as well go with the Dicristina release that includes a 7" with it.

My copy sounds really great. Very crisp, dynamic and deep. there are very little surface noises on mine, hardly noticeable at all.

Edited 7 years agoDisappointing, wondered why I'd only listened to this once since purchase, pulled it off the shelf, listened again, realised. Lazy lazy transfer, poor sound quality, sounds like a worn Lp, fluffy mids, distorted on peaks, not good at all, I wouldn't bother frankly, wait for a decent re-issue, because this definitely isn't it.

Have just received a brand new copy of the 'Just Another Diamond Day' LP (STEP4). Nice quiet surface - there is some minor noise, but this appears to be from the original recordings. Absolutely beautiful record! Rather oddly, my copy didn't come with a lyric sheet; instead, the booklet (with lyrics) from the CD version was enclosed within the sleeve.

Yes my brand new copy arrived today complete with the recorded surface noise, the LP appears not to be damaged in any way,
Great LP all the same, just recorded from a non perfect original, pity. -
Has anyone noticed a lot of surface noise on this reissue? I don't mind it all that much, but it seemed to be that way even though I got a new copy. I was wondering if it was just my particular copy.
