Edited 2 days agoI purchased this recently and played it once and heard no issue at all. Although, I do wash every record with AudioDesk which helps to remove oils & particles.
This album sounds great. -
My pressing (purchased in the UK in March 2025) has pretty bad distortion on disc 1 - but disc 2 is surprisingly flawless, not sure if anyone else has had this

Pressing isn't great, there is a tad bit of distortion on her vocals and just minor pops and other imperfections. However I can't complain about the packaging the lyric book is lovely. -
Edited 13 days agoSo many of the "1st pressing" for sale still sealed...I highly doubt that any of these are actual firsts given that DC does not generally alter the sleeve or the LP labels considerably from one pressing to another...no way that the LPs available now are still from the initial 2006 run.
I had one for years but just got Steve Albini's personal copy from his closet...too bad I was too slow with my checkout as I had a couple of other DC singles from Albini that someone checked out before me. -
Picked up a copy yesterday and had no issues! Played really clean and heard no distortion whatsoever on any of the songs. Either I got lucky or there's a new batch of pressings that correct this issue. -
Honestly after reading the reviews I expected the pressing to be a disappointment but mine is pristine, no issues with distortion at all.

Incredible album, but sadly a poor pressing (purchased in late 2024) - lots of distortion scattered throughout, particularly in Sawdust and Diamonds, which is sad as I love that track. Really wish they would do a remaster/repress of this, as it truly deserves it.

I got my copy in 2022. Listening to it right now for the first time in a while. The distortion is pretty bad. -
Maybe I had too high expectations, but the sound is not always up to the standard of other Albini productions. Given the names involved, I expected something more. I have to try the CD -
Sound quality of vocal differs from track to track. For example, "Emily" is muddy, "Only Skin" is perfect.
Not a bad sounding album, not a great one, too.
