Can’t believe the lack of appreciation for this most lovely record?
Whatever.
A deep dive into soft focus future funk. Still holds strong. A varied palette of soulful and reflective gear that’ll soothe you. One of mr Degeorgio’s finest records in his long and varied output. -
What a spectacular record by Mr. Degiorgio. Funny story - first time I listened to this record was with my girlfriend in the studio. Had a nice strong beer and started to get lost in the first track. What was the first word I used to describe this track to the lady? Yes, "epic," so quite the appropriate title for the beginning of this excellent journey. The rest of the first vinyl is mesmerizing... ambient jam, I'd call it, and totally hypnotic. The second vinyl picks it up with some hybrid d&b track and some funky, groovy techno/house. Love it! This is really the album that finds Kirk between his two distinct phases as a producer - the early 90s techno and the broken beat, future jazz, experimental house. I don't know if I'll ever have a favorite Degiorgio/As One record, but this ranks up there pretty high. Quality through and through.
