Edited 3 years agofirstly, this edition sings. the sound is powerful and dynamic; quiet vinyl. as far as the playing, it's a weird album. as i see it, 'extras' is just what it implies (although, strangely, it leads). A2, 'Echo,' is a fine study of Williams's technique and mood; and both B-sides are fine post-modal excursions, with hancock and shorter bobbing and weaving along the edges. the excellent pressing and somewhat obtuse nature of the recording invite one to delve deeper into its existence with occasional spins.

Mr. Williams dropped the ball with this album. With Herbie Hancock and other notable musicians performing you would think there would be some good tracks on here. To me this album sounds like the players are warming up their instruments to practice. This album lacks any direction and is unpleasant to listen to.
