Terrific Album, one of my top favorites from 1966. The 2 CD Deluxe edition has both the Mono & Stereo mixes, plus some new Stereo mixes, alternates & outtakes.

Edited 3 years agoFace To Face is the Kinks first true masterpiece album. Just over two years into their career Ray Davies has become a writer ahead of the crowd.
This album suffered in the history books slightly due to Pye records being extremely ignorant. Ray had initially organised the album to be linked by sound effects and musical ages, which you still hear the remnants of some on here ... but Pye just wanted a good little singles band, and the album was delayed months, which in the sixties made a huge difference, and destroys the historical perspective of how far ahead The Kinks were from their contemporaries.
From the heartfelt beauty of Rosy Won't You Please Come Home
Through the lighthearted dig at his brother in Dandy
To the apocalyptic vision of Rainy Day June
Through the worldwide favourite Sunny Afternoon...
This is a masterpiece album, that needs to be listened to properly.
I highly recommend the 2 cd deluxe edition. The extra tracks are just as stunning as the album.

Edited 11 years agoI own this album since 1966 when it was released. Mine is a Dutch pressing by Negram.
The strange thing is that side B starts with "Sunny Afternoon" so B6 = B1 on my record.
Does anybody experience the same phenomena or am I the only one?
Also the lables on my record are mixed, so the lable of side A is on Side B and vice versa.
