Edited 3 months agoThe mastering on this press really gives the feel of a true live record. Genuinely sounding as if this was the highest quality live recording we have of the band, just missing the audience. Which was what I believe they were going for during the recording and production process. Very proper.

I do not share the same feeling about this pressing, I compare to The Stooges - Fun House which is so much warmer than this one.
I made a video about it here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPD5Ixp2Deo&t=31s -
I just got a sealed copy of this exact pressing and ripped the shrink off faster than a roid’ hornet. It absolutely smokes!

This pressing from is my favorite vintage Funhouse pressing I have.
I am specifically comparing to this Canadian pressing: The Stooges - Fun House
This is a 1970s reissue and since I am fortunate to have a NM- copy (and after moving I can't get my period US copies together)
The Fr. one is -- to my ears -- more vox forward and drier making it more energetic, angry even. My Can. sounds cool, almost in a laid-back way. The Fr. one is *dangerous*
I deploy the Fr. one at parties, the Can. one is good for the work day....
That is my very subjective opinion! -
This is an amazing pressing of this album. Super raw mastering and this is cut very hot. Almost like an RL would be from that era. And because it's an MPO French press the vinyl is super silent and has absolutely no noise in the rare quiter parts. Happened to find this at a record store for much less than a NM copy should go for and would recommend seeking this one out.

Edited one year agoi must say. ive compared this to my original USA CTH pressing, and also my German pressing that uses original USA metal work. this French pressing is cut louder and has a fuller, more abrasive sound that those 2 pressings just dont have. and i think that makes it sound slightly better, especially for an album like this. that may sound sacrilegious to just about every fan of this LP, but thats what my ears tell me.
