Quite pleased with the overall sonics on this compilation, the sound quality is considerably improved compared to the 1988 CD's I previously owned. There are two or three songs on the first LP (particularly "I'm Down") where it sounds like too much noise reduction was used, but again, overall, quiet pleased. My copy is flat and quiet, and plays nice and clean with no noticeable surface noise. -
Fine pressing, digital mastering sounds really lifeless though, go with mono masters or just vintage stereo pressings of these songs -
Not the greatest pressing, the sound dynamics are quite flat. The vinyl, by comparison, it not that flat - it came quite warped, especially the second record.
The 2015 of Beatles 1 completely blows this out of the water. Not only are the newer mixes just astoundingly better, the pressing is much better too. Considering the crossover between tracks on the two releases, I can't see myself listening to this that often.
