Notes
1st press mono deep groove blue labels with no "Inc" after "Bill Grauer Productions" at bottom of labels.
1st press cover is laminated with richer color tones, especially apparent in sharpness of Evans’s tortoise shell eyeglass frames and texture of striped tie. Later pressings are not laminated, and the colors are a bit more washed out/faded (see as a comparison https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/master/104371-Bill-Evans-Trio-Portrait-In-Jazz)
There is another release which has the mono deep groove blue labels but with the "Inc" after "Bill Grauer Productions": The Bill Evans Trio - Portrait In Jazz
Recorded in New York; December 28, 1959.

Edited 3 years ago(RLP315 Mono version) The performance here is as good as it gets. A must have trio record. My pressing is well worn with some scratches, however, I find a general boominess to the mix. It seems as though the piano has been given extra fullness in the low mids which interferes a bit with the bass, especially given it's a mono recording. Compared to stereo pressing of Wlz4Debby and Sunday@ VV, this sounds muddy. There is an occasional comb filtering issue on the piano and sometimes the ride cymbal which is rather annoying. I'm going to seek out a later remastered version of this.

Anyone have the 1999 jvc Japan mono diw-9007? I think I have to create a new listing for it I do not see it anywhere. It's breathtaking

Evans first album to feature the ensemble that featured on the following three albums until the untimely death of bassist Scott LaFaro in '61. Again, there are great interpretations of standards, however the bass comes more to the forefront, it's all very good quality, a classic.
