Is anybody able to speak on how this compares to this 2017 reissue? https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/release/10967094-Paul-Simon-Graceland

Great pressing, sounds better than my original though that ones a bit worse for wear. Having owned on cassette, cd and vinyl this is my favorite copy.

My copy is quiet, flat, centered & purchased new from AS/AP. Incredible detail, transparent, & can pick out any player in the soundstage. I do not have another pressing to compare to and not sure why I would want to top it. Must own!

Nice pressing. Very clear with good dynamics. Some minor clicks here and there, but no major flaw. Quite satisfied with my copy. 4.4 / 5

A very nice pressing. I enjoyed every minute of my listen. The album is quiet, has nice separation, the clarity is amazing. No complaints from me.

Edited one year agoI am going to go against the grain here on this one. While it sounds great, I think my original mint pressing is not only quieter (by a long shot since I think RTI is overrated), but has better clarity is some parts, and punchier. It sounds great, don't get me wrong, but I am left at this point in deciding if I want to listen to my original or the remaster that's noisier. I feel I shouldn't have to make that call if it's as good as everyone says, but unfortunately I do.

Yeah, gonna echo the wows here. One of the best sounding records I own, right up there with the 2015 Grundman remaster of Brubeck's Time Out. Immersive and transporting soundscapes from one composition to the next. Wonderful clarity—which could imperil lesser musicians to being outed as not quite masters of their crafts—is no traitor to Simon and his costars. It is astounding to hear like you're in the studio with them—particularly seated between the percussion and bass sections, given their special clarity and precision.
Corny as it sounds, all I could ask for is for the chimes and bells and other incidental flourishes and filigrees to be brought forward a little bit, to be a little more twinkling in their brilliance. Like shooting stars in Simon's constellations of sound.
5/5 from me. -
I think that you can't hear a better version of this album. Unless a 45 RPM UHQR would be made but apart from that I think that this is the most astounding version available.
A good alternative would be the We Are Vinyl pressing, which was the one I had before, but the problem with that pressing is that it has very hot treble and a bit of sibilance. But it does come close to this pressing but it doesn't achieve the clarity and air between instruments like this one. -
This pressing is phenomenal. Very quiet and Paul's voice is very clear, focused in the middle of soundfield. The other instruments do a fine job of flanking Mr Simon. This is probably the best I've heard this album, and I have owned it in one or other form over the years.
This comes with a poster of the front cover, and the lyrics are on the inner record sleeve. -
