Distortions on several tracks... I've got the repress. such a shame

Got the repress... Distortions on several tracks, crackles, I buy it mint. I'm very disappointed..

I suppose I have both first and second press, both bought from Decks.de. First press was delivered to me back in April 2012, and second came couple of weeks ago. The only difference in package I may it is coming with inner sleeves. 1st press has glossy black inners, while 2nd has black polylined inners, which are way better. As for sound quality, I have to it that I like 2nd press better, and it has no any distortions on any part of it, and on any frequency. So I guess those "distorted" copies were some defected units, but it's not the same issue as with recent Beat Delete represses of Ninja Tune made by MPO, which were complete crap on some releases, and went to remanufacture.

Sonically I found 2nd press sounds more mild, while 1st press is a bit more "punchier" but from my point of view this punch add to sound some additional sharpness, which kills some mood on it. I have to say that spent some time with mp3 on my phone, and even if I've listened it with Sennheiser 25 headphones, cheap converter, and poor commutation gave some coloration and harsh to the sound. But even after it mp3 was way to sweeter and had way more air in sound for me, comparing to 1st press, which came to me as total disappointment. So I bought 2nd press just to see if I will be lucky enough to hear and understand the difference between them. And luckily my copy of 2nd press is way more attractive, but still I found it's very different to mp3 I've listened. It may sound ridiculous, but I'm still impressed by that cheap mp3 sound which pushed my to buy this record. I can't blame John Dent who mastered it, cuz it could happen that mp3 was compressed after his job was done, so I think the only thing is failed here is manufacturing process.

BTW, we've done blind test on both presses couple of days ago, with 3 different pair of ears, on Selffish (http://www.discogs.sitioby.com/artist/27000-Selffish) home studio, with regular Technics 1200 MKII, Denon DL-110 cart, Musical Fidelity V-LPS phono stage, and some monitor speakers (I may check the model later, if somebody need it). I did test myself, and the rest were just listening. All of testers itted that both presses have different sound, but no any distortions at any point. All of testers concluded that they like more 2nd press, while 1st press is still fully acceptable, and if they didn't compared them, they could be happy with any of them.

argh i bought the repress aswell it sound horrible! especially myrtle avenue is absolute shit although its such a brilliant tune. sending it back

my copy of the repress sounds awful too especially on headphones, i would like to know if its ment to be like this all the bass is distorted.
does anyone have an original?

bought one of the represses but found it had quite a lot of distortion in places. Took it back to Phonica, and we listened to another copy in store, which had exactly the same distortion. Such a shame as the music is fantastic, but it looks like the repress has a few pressing defects.

repress is definitely not 180g
