I bought this for Vig's original mix, the Devonshire mix from cd3, and it's worth it. I think it's exciting to know Cobain's favorite version. Although there is a feeling of work still to be done, I find the sound fantastic, genuine, powerful. The sound of the guitars is devastating. The drums are too far behind, for example in territorial pissing it is barely present, but it's still a beautiful version, dirty as it should. Drain you's attack is also more powerful than Litt's version. I defenetly love this version, despite or perhaps thanks to all these imperfections.

This is a wonderful set. I have owned this CD collection and the picture disc LP set, and this is the better one. Out of this world comprehensive photo and article listings, and I would suggest that the LP pressing comes from a digital mix. If you want the best sounding analogue copy, buy an original 1991 vinyl pressing. If you want one of the best overall copies to listen to, this is the one you are looking for. It sounds great as a digital mix but play this remaster on your CD player, don't go for the 4LP set.
All of these comments apply to the In Utero anniversary set as well. Buy either the CD Box set or an original vinyl pressing.
