"New Bowie Album"
lights up the interweb.
How long before the 2nd/1st,
''pencilled in",
Anthony Newley 'album',
makes the jump from bootleg to official release ? -
Anyone know why the UK seems to have lost out on this release ? After RSD the album swiftly became a flippers favourite and I don’t think I saw a single copy sell for less than £65. I just looked at the For Sale items on here, and just one in the UK. Loads in Spain and even some in China but just that solitary £110 copy here 😳. I could understand it if the songs were all unreleased versions but they’re not 🤷♂️
-
Excellent dynamic sound on this vinyl and a nice clean sound; very little surface noise. And I had the volume up (to be played at maximum volume!?).
-
🤯🤯🤯 Mind completely blown by the sound quality of this RSD release! Very happy to have this in my collection, an early tracklisting of one of my favorite (Bowie) albums! Love the CB cover, fun to hear that side of Bowie!
-
I was a little suspicious about an umpteenth RSD record of David Bowie. I must it I was wrong.
The pressing and the sound quality are outstanding. Period. Moreover, this alternative version is highly interesting.
The listening of both sides is exhilarating. The packaging is simple but tasteful.
Parlophone did not take care of adding a polyethylene inner sleeve. To be added asap.
Despite a run of 8,000 copies (which is fairly large), it seems that prices are increasing abnormally.
It’s a pity for the fan and excellent news for scalpers ! -
The original Ziggy Stardust and Rare LP's are not the best sound quality. But acceptable. Probably never intended for Hi-fi systems, but for small 70's grammophones and 80's plastic stereo systems. Occasionally I pull out my old copy of Ziggy or Rare, listen for nostalic reasons, enjoy the music and take the sound quality as a part of the package. I have plenty of jazz records from the hole 70's decade og early 80's in exceptionally sound quality, truly Hi-fi. Ziggy and Rare are glamrock and rough on the edges. Thats how it is. This new product Waiting in the Sky are not a Bowie record. It's a record with Bowie songs. Fine by me if some one wants to buy that.

Such negative moaners on here. Not everyone has these boots already or cares to compile or program such a track list when this very good RSD does such a good job. Well mastered, silent vinyl. Well worth it to hear this alternative version of a classic
-
Just last weekend, I bought this new for $50 CAD from a record store in Kingston, Ontario. No RSD lineups, no flippers involved. It's always worth looking for unsold RSD stock at bricks-and-mortar places.
The album itself is inferior to as-released Ziggy. It's missing some of the best songs on the final album. When I bought David Bowie - The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars in 1992, the booklet came with the tracklist from this early version, of which was it was easy to make a mix tape using the bonus tracks on the first few Rykodisc releases. So while the album wasn't new to me, I was happy to have it on vinyl just for a different take on one of my favourite albums. -
Waste of vinyl and cardboard featuring four "rare" tracks any fan has had in their collection for decades, be they on the original 7"s, Lifetimes 80s 7" reissues, the Bowie Rare composition or as bonus racks on the 90s Rykodisc/Sound and
Vision remasters.
Save your cash. -
Finally got a chance to spin my copy over the weekend. Did anyone else have issues with a large scratch on the end of Side A? Constant ticks with the end of Round and Round & Amsterdam.
Interested to hear if this was a common problem and if anyone reached out to the label.
