Stay away from this pressing if you're looking for a great pressing that truly represents the DSoTM album. If you're looking for an affordable clean sounding slab of vinyl, this one will do. Streaming is even cleaner and damn near as good and even less expensive.

See, I'd like to say this record sounds great, and it does, but I got unlucky and ended up with a copy that has a skip right in the middle of the Money sax solo! Other than that though, I'd recommend it.

Edited one month agoI'll be honest.... 3 stars. Not more. Not a catastrophe but not excellent at all. Kind of dull. No life pressing. Lot of distorsion sometimes.

Edited 2 months agoYMMV. My copy of this pressing is absolute garbage. Major cracks and pops on both sides and the same center sticker on both sides. You might get a good one but I did not. Good luck.

If you want an affordable and great sounding DSOTM pressing, grab this one. It's quiet with no surface noise, barely any distortion (Except on the opening clocks on Time), and sounds clear. However, my sleeve has been caked with my fingerprints, for some reason.

I really like the 50th Anniversary vinyl pressing of Dark Side of the Moon, and overall, it's a solid edition, especially at the $25 price point. First off, this pressing is remarkably quiet. There’s very little surface noise, completely slient. The drums, vocals, and keyboards come through with excellent clarity—each instrument feels well-defined in the mix.
The bass is another highlight. It’s full and rich, adding depth to tracks like “Time” and “Money,”. If you’re used to hearing Dark Side on high-end setups, you might notice a slight difference compared to earlier pressings, particularly the original releases. Some reviews may argue that the original pressing has more warmth or a bit more "life" to it, but for my ears, this anniversary edition does a great job delivering a balanced sound.
For $25, it’s definitely a good value. Of course, if you’re after the absolute best in of vintage sound, you might want to search for an original pressing or a higher-end reissue. But for a modern reissue, this one is a great option, -
Edited 7 months agoI’ve had a few listens of this record. It took a while for the tracks to open up the soundstage. Perhaps with every listen I recommend a clean (even when brand new) it sometimes is purely psychological. A great experience nonetheless.
Grab this version before it goes OOP. The first track on both sides “Speak to Me” and “Money” gives a great soundstage. In “Speak to Me” the helicopter/mechanical sounds bounce of from right to left without hesitance. The background remains dead silent while Roger Waters’ vocals are crystal clear, just the apt lows, mids and highs for me.
Totally recommend. -
I'm 77 years old with hearing that's not as sharp as it used to be. And that's also affected by a level of tinnitus brought on by 43 of motorcycling. But I still know when something sounds good. And this record, I believe, sounds as good as you can get. Just phenomenal, and the louder the better.
Keep in mind that living up here in "The Great White North", I deal in Canadian currency. A year and a half ago I bought a 2016 version from Amazon for $29, which today is $59. I played it once, and shelved it. Too much noise and clicks and pops. A couple of days ago I gave it a second chance, and I was so disappointed with the sound that I did a search and noticed very good reviews for this 50th Anniversary edition. So I bought it, again on Amazon, for $40. A total bargain!! Delivered in less than 36 hours.
Both the 2016 and 2023 versions are pressed in the Netherlands at Record Industry, but they have a huge facility with many different presses, no doubt in varying degrees of age and condition. That may be the reason for the obvious difference in the quality of these two records. At any rate I couldn't be more satisfied than I am with this 50th Anniversary Edition of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon masterpiece. And I'd say, get it while you can! -
Purchased from Walmart (which made me sceptical), but this sounds fantastic. Quiet with minimal pops. The reissue packaging is top notch (love the feel of the jacket).
As a drummer, I think the drums sound fantastic in this reissue. The hi-hat and toms in particular sound excellent.
