I’ve now listened to this reissue several times all the way through, and I have to say it sounds great to my ears. I’d love to see MoFi tackle some more classic hip hop. I don’t think there is any issue with bass here. My sub pounds hard. I think they did a good job with the separation too. I can hear everything, but the balance is there.

Edited one year agoI compared this with the 45 rpm from a couple years ago and in my opinion I wouldn’t spend the extra money on the 45 rpm in the aftermarket. The 45 has a tiny bit more bass and maybe gets a little lower but this album doesn’t have super low frequency bass to begin with. The highs may be a little better but it’s so close it could easily just be placebo. It’s a little wider soundstage on the 45 but not much. The Supervinyl 33 rpm is definitely quieter but the 45 is still pretty quiet.
I’d say if you have the 45 rpm don’t bother getting the Supervinyl 33 rpm, and if you don’t have either just get the Supervinyl 33 rpm and save money if you’re only considering sound quality. They are both great. -
