Edited 5 months agoPressing sounds great.
Hole on both LPs took 10 twists of a sharp knife to get to fit on my turntable. LP 1 has a slight warp.
I’m still happy with it. -
On my copy side A sounds a bit muddier than side B, which is clearer and louder. Does anyone have a similar experience? And at the beginning of "Moonchild" I can hear pops.
-
The mastering is just amazing. The spindle hole on LP1 was way too tight. You need to widen it by yourself. Records are not perfectly even as well. What a shame, but fixable. When it comes to sound quality, this record is surely the very best version of Fields best album.

Edited one year agoThis is my favourite FOTN album and this pressing sounds far better than the original copy I have - nice bonus to have Shiva and Psychonaut added too. Only snag is the tight spindle on Disc 1 (easily resolved by pushing a biro through the centre to slightly expand it). It's also slightly warped but does not impact the sound quality. No such issues with the second disc.

I bought the album today and immediately returned it, lp 1 hole is so small that I barely put it somehow....and when that lp goes up and down, it is terribly bent to the point of pain. lp 2 goes up easier but is also bent hard.
what a shame!
horror!!! -
Perfect reissue! The vinyl is dead quiet! And the SQ is truly so much better than the original vinyl release of the 90’s. Both LP’s are perfect. No warped LP’s. Only The spindle hole of LP1 was very tight. Used a rat tail file to make the hole bigger.
Best reissue of 2023! -
Edited one year agoyes! all the review are true - the album isn't dead flat and it's a bit noisy but only in between the tracks in my case. cleaned it, brushed it - no significant change but i added some antistatic inner sleeves. i hate paper sleeves without any protection.
the gatefold cover and the paper sleeves look very nice also the golden discs. this alone was worth the purchase.
nevertheless i consider the pressing as not totally bad. the sound ist fantastic and the music is absolutely to my liking. the engineers did a good job, the people at the pressing plant should go to school again....

Edited one year agoWhat an amazing remaster that is! The sound is so open and dynamic, you will be able to rediscover the album on a whole new level. Fantastic work!
However, the pressing quality is not flawless: Disc 1 is slightly warped and the spindle hole is much too tight. Disc 2 starts on both sides with significant surface noise during the first 30-60 seconds. Edit: exactly the same issues on my replacement copy. It’s a shame!
Apart from that, this is the version to go for. The album never sounded better. -
As others wrote already the sound is brilliant - better than previous vinyl versions. Unfortunately my copy is slightly warped (normal these times I guess), the middle hole is not centered correctly and I have a lot of crackling especially on record 2 which is a shame.

I’ve never owned this on vinyl previously, however they knocked its out of the park with this reissue. Immaculate sound and presentation and it’s a nice bonus having the alt version of Psychnonaut included (guitars are pushed back a bit with the atmosphere and delay drenched bass guitar up front). Do not sleep on this reissue of The Nephilim!
