just put a belter of a half-mastering cut of dancing ghosts out on a black wax 45 for everyone to have and we can all be happy.

I had this one in the eighties and sold it for an unknown reason (maybe my grunge time?). This reissue is a nice memory, but I am concerned that the sound is really flat. Technically the record is ok, no warp, no clicks. But, agreeing to aquaminx2: editing the best two songs is a really bad idea. So please CTI: reissue this as a double album!!!!

      Although: very good record!

After my excitement on first hearing about it, this reissue is a bit of a let-down...

Obvs Dancing Ghosts is the benchmark by which the pressing will be judged - I don't own the OG so can't make a direct comparison, but I have it on the 'Thread Through Time' comp and I assumed it HAD to be better than that!

Sadly though, to my ears the comp (which I was hoping to retire!) shaded it in an A-B. Gutted. And playing through confirmed it - the whole album sounds pretty flat.

On a positive note, the vinyl isn't crackly. There seems to be low-level noise, which might be tape hiss from the source, it's hard to tell. Not obtrusive, anyway.

Verdict - it's worth getting while it's c. £20-odd quid, but it won't replace my long-suffering comp or rule out an expensive OG purchase at some point.

Ridiculous idea to edit Temple Bar and Invisible Spectrum - two absolutely superb tracks, the best on the album really. Should've been reissued on double vinyl.
Elevating the techno-friendly Dancing Ghosts to the opening track is another dumb idea - and these are the people who claim to have no concern for accessibility and pop-friendliness!

I would say it has more low-end than the original and I love it. For instance the arpeggio in dancing ghosts is because of that little bit extra bass more present. Luckily the high frequencies remained crisp and articulate. I’m very happy with the sound!
As for the cover: the colours are beautifully vibrant, the material is rather thin and flimsy though.
No warp on my gorgeous green record.

Pretty neat mastering here, I doubt that the original would sound much different. It's always been on a dry side.
My copy doesn't have any warp, though some surface noise is present (especially on side b), which is sad.
All in all it's a worthy release if you don't want to spend a big buck on an OG.

Disappointing pressing this one. We are charged pricing for a discount product. The vinyl was a paltry 135 gram, and the cover in the flimsiest stock imaginable. The mastering was a hammock curve, with way too much treble. It sounded grating and fatiguing, thin and annoying. The pressing has several ticks and pops that sound like faults in the lacquer or metalwork. Going by the runout this is possibly pressed at GZ which would explain it.

The Chris & Cosey repressings were excellent, his one very much not.

                Oh, and it was warped.
