Edited one year agoThe Suffocation's soul is trapped precisely in Human Waste.
A predator in the wild causes maximum damage to the victim without warning. So Suffocation, without warning, crushes in a bearish grip and bloodthirsily eviscerates without showing even the slightest sympathy. Perhaps this EP and the debut full-length are among the heaviest recordings of their time. It still sounds threatening and not at all safe. Human Waste is recorded quite simply and rawly, but it perfectly conveys the rage of the band and the intention to give out the most killer Death Metal. Well, without Catatonia or Infecting the Crypts, it is impossible to imagine a Suffocation show in our days, no matter how deep they go into technical on later recordings. An iconic EP from the early 90s ...
It's nice that against the background of the reissues of Suffocation albums, the label did not ignore this iconic EP with bonuses. The sound of this vinyl is crushing, it's hard to say exactly what kind of work was done with the sound, but the main material sounds powerful and oppressive. The dynamics are not the highest, but perhaps a little compression during remastering has become a kind of panacea (for the main EP DR09 and for demo DR08). Probably, the sound here is not quite like on a CD, but the overall volume level and the low-frequency pressure level are very high here. The vinyl is smooth, the playback is clean. The design of the printing, apparently, is exactly the same as on all reissues from Relapse since 2013. The vinyl color is absolutely excellent and objectively the best of what was released earlier, a perfect match with the cover.
