I can only agree with the previous two posters below and say that the prices being charged at present are both ludicrous and lack common sense. Ludicrous because of the extortionate prices and also insane because people will pay through the nose to look fashionable and make out that they bought it when it first came out when the reality is they're as clueless as pigshit. The danger with the latter groups- who are new to the scene I would say- is that they create the demand and freeze out the genuine collectors who would like to buy the album. How do you define a genuine collector? You can't but I would reason that they wouldn't be dull enough to pay some of the laughable prices being commanded right now!

In retrospect, this album will come down in price at some point when the hype around Daft Punk also dies away. At the turn of the year this album was at best commanding around £50 tops and in the months before that around £10-15 less. Indeed, up until last autumn, it was possible to pick it up at one of my local record stores so what I would say to those interested is: hold on. The big part of the price is because it's a soundtrack but in the long term, I would think that the new album is the one that most people would wish to buy primarily because it looks certain to be a classic. I would also bet that the soundtrack will get a repress too to cash in so I really wouldn't worry too much about the current situation.

And to surmise the insanity? There is a seller on ebay at the moment charging £500 or a best offer option for the soundtrack. This seller sold one in January for £35 and in February last year for £28. He must have loads of them which just goes to show that they're not as rare as people think and that the price and demand is being driven by people who have no clue about vinyl whatsoever. Of that latter point I am almost certain (unfortunately).

The first time, I didn't quite like this CD. But the second time, it finally clicked, and now I agree with the critical acclaim that its been receiving. It's powerful, and although it has absolutely nothing to do with the house sound of Daft Punk, it's an amazing soundtrack.
