Edited 7 months agoUp there as one of the best modern rock albums. Lovely clean pressing. Spins flat and the silence is very clean. Grinds and punches when it should (Fairweather Friends), elsewhere it’s melodic and Josh’s voice is nicely separated, deep and rich (The Vampyre of Time and Memory). One for your collection.

The CD sounds muddy, veiled, and compressed. This vinyl sounds open, clear and less compressed. Is it a hifi masterpiece? No. But a definite improvement over the CD.
-
Edited 7 months agoA-fucking-mazing sound. This version is how it should sound for me! Really great and intense due to the details and incredible dynamics. Don't know about the original LP release, but I always hated the bricked thin compressed sound of the original CD.
This is a total different mix and I have no complaints anymore ;) I love this mix. Really some HQ shit the album deserved -
Side A, B and C sounded awful at first, lots and lots of surface noise, although no visible dust. Cleaned it, sounds pretty good now. Few pops here and there, but side D is perfect.

Edited one year agoThe A side sounds incredible, but the B side has some issues with highs and compression, seems to sound louder and clicked in some spots. The cymbals on My god is the sun hurt my ears. The C and D side seems to return to the same dynamics from A side. Very rare.

Just continued to evolve unlike any other band aside from maybe Deftones and Tool. Every album just gets better and better. Homme and Co are an unstoppable force.

Having trouble picking which pressing of this I should pick up between the original deluxe vinyl and this. I know there's a few sound comparisons here in this section, but is there anyone else that has done a comparison?
-
Edited one year agoI can get either this pressing or the one with 744861104018 as the barcode which is i believe an original pressing.
Is there a difference soundwise, does anyone have both? -
