Edited one year agoA great experience listening to this album on vinyl for the first time. It has more depth and details than the original compressed cd. I can hear something that I never been heard before eventhough I've been listening to this album for 25 years!

I have an interesting copy of this.... Ordered this with the other re issues (liquid/sub-human) and the 2nd Record has The "side D" centre label stamped on both sides!!!!. This a very rare misprint from Mute... Anyone else have copy? I wonder how many are out in the wild.
Sounds decent, bit of Surface noise but the Vinyl looks great and i am happy to have a rare misprint in the collection:-) -
having loads of trouble listening to Luscious Apparatus -- much skipping/choppy sequences of certain audio parts, which is unfortunate as this is my favourite off the album.

Did someone notice the error (?) in the beginning of D2 "Last breath"?? It started for 5 seconds and then starts again?!
On the Selected CD it is not but this is a different version because it's only 5:24 instead of 6:21 but on this LP here it sounds strange like an error... -
I’m a long-time fan of Recoil and a long time vinyl record collector. Musically, Recoil music is all I like to listen to on my hifi system : a wall of sounds with bass, medium, treble, weird atmosphere, perfectly recorded.
So I was happy to buy a Recoil vinyl for the first time : Unsound Methods
How can I explain what I think of this vinyl, what I felt during a first listen ?
No surface noise, no big flaw, but I’m so disappointed by the way it sounds. It’s flat, flabby, no dynamics. All the richness of Recoil music is gone. It’s like listening to music with cotton in the ears.
If you already know Recoil, keep on listening to your old CDs or digital files.
If you want to discover the wonderful music of Alan Wilder, avoid this poor vinyl edition. -
Edited 2 years agoLooking back 25 years now, it's fascinating to see how this album is a continuation of his production work on "Songs of Faith and Devotion".

Don’t have the OG to compare to, but…IMHO I think it sounds wonderful. A lot of texture and detail you can hear in Wilder’s production. It comes with two very nice custom inner sleeves. code included. Only negative is no gatefold :( I hate it when they house two records in one sleeve like that, but oh well. Album is incredible, with a remaster supervised and approved by Wilder himself

Edited 2 years agoInitial impressions are ok BUT I’m getting tons of sibilance. Drifting sounds rough. Don’t think this is a keeper sadly.
Using Technics SL 1500c with an ortofan 2m red
Just finished playing all the way through. It’s going back. Missing Piece is unlistenable. This is the worst case of silibence I’ve ever heard on a record, and I’ve got over 500 of the things. I would not recommend this.
Months later …..
So, I’ve still got this. I’ll sell it when it goes OOP.
I just played it again to see whether or not the sibilance issues are still -uh - issues.
And sadly they are 😩. It’s only a problem on two tracks but it’s so aggressive it spoils the music. I don’t have sibilance issues with any of my other records - a little minor ssssss on some but nothing I can’t live with. This is terrible. And I said only on two tracks, but Drifting is playing at the moment, and every time Siobhan sings a word beginning with an S it’s accompanied with the sound of REALLY high frequency, acid sharp sssssssssssssssssss. Like an aggressive high frequency cutting right through the mix.
I don’t think I could even sell it really. Wouldn’t want to it onto some one else ☹️ so I guess it’s going in the bin. -
Can someone confirm if those three reissues come in a gatefold sleeve and how is the quality of the pressings?
