An extremely important, and awesome early predecessor to the field of early death metal. At the time, this one was something surprisingly more thematic and militant than its contemporaries, held together by quality sound production and vocal style despite perhaps being a bit more simplistic and slow-paced than our death metal today, employing the more traditional and in my opinion far superior mid-tempo style.
The fact that this was recorded on one of the largest Extreme Metal labels in Brasil at the time may have had something to do with the production quality on this album, and many of the others in the Brasilian scene, though this one is particularly well-polished. Incredible album art and a somewhat futuristic and forward-thinking concept makes for an enjoyable album that holds a lot of charm, and overall Toxin Diffusion is a fun and rollicking experience. These guys were essentially visionaries given the limited context of their inspirational source material, and the limited resources and popularity of the Brasilian countryside in the late 80’s. No complaints here, on absolutely any front. Perfect work from a group of talented young individuals!
