Totally agree here. This first canadian pressing is wonderful! I am very curious to compare it with the new Half-speed remaster...

Amazing sounding LP, the sound of it just floats out & positions itself 'right-there' in front of & all around you. The soundstage is so huge, fidelious & lifelike it's ridiculous. Amazing mastering of a terrific recording...

Found this in a thrift store bin yesterday for $2. Used to be on heavy rotation by my older brothers when I was in preschool and in grade 1 and 2, so there is a nostalgia factor at play, but even so I was surprised at the mastering and soundstage this first Canadian pressing offered. There is a fascinating juxtaposition between a chunky, raw rock sound -- and layered over in parts -- a more polished orchestral element. Both of which pop and don't mush together. Together it makes for one of the best vinyl listening experiences I've had in the last few months. And for the fee of $2?? I've spent $60 on records that don't sound this kickass. Really pleased.

Edited 2 years agoI have always been impressed with old Canada "Capital Mastering" albums (they all came from the same plant at 3109 American Drive, Mississauga baby! buy local! the building is still there! Never a reason to "upgrade" to "audiophile" versions. I have VG+ copy of this LP I bought for like $6.00! and could listen to it over and over and go "wow".

Edited 3 years agoI have to agree with muchorelaxo. Normally I find pressings of rock albums from this era to sound absolutely terrible, but this is certainly an acception. If you put this on without telling me what is was, I would think it was a modern audiophile pressing. The dynamics are incredible for an album of this age, and even in general. If you can get a nice copy for cheap (I managed to snag mine for only $5), it is WELL worth it.
