Edited one month agoNot sure how this ed QA, my copy was warped, with noise and also one side has double label (but one is offset by like 1cm and can't be removed without leaving mark on runout and label below). I'm returning this one.
Edit: 180 gram version I got as replacement is perfect! -
My copy is perfect, sounds nice and quiet. Gatefold and vinyl colour are amazing. Very happy about it, especiialy for this price.

Edited 9 months agoAstonishing music, so beautiful!
The sound is superb - deep and wide. Very dynamic, no distortions or sibilances even during the most loud parts.
Beautiful embossed packaging and the colors of the record itself.
My copy is almost silent, guess I’m lucky (not always :)). Antistatic inner sleeve for the record, which is always good.
Just six stars out of five. -
Edited 9 months agoI thought that the same music had been pressed on both sides for a bit there but 1st and 6th movements begin quite similar 😂 my pressing is great.. silent

Beautiful album, however my copy is almost unlistenable due to all the crackles. Should probably have returned it, but too late now.

I took a chance and happy to report this particular version is flat, quiet vinyl that sounds very good. I would have preferred a beautiful slab of mirror like black vinyl
as not into coloured variants but this pale marbled blue is visually pleasing at least.
An album I have loved since its release but held back due to the negative around pressing quality issues. There have been multiple releases and most seem dogged by the same issues. This is quiet and gentle music that requires a quality pressing - and here we have one. -

Edited 2 years agoReally, really thin pressing variant of this album, but fantastic sounding and beautifully colored. I had some minor surface noise towards the louder parts on side two, but nothing that really takes away from the quality to me. No warping on my end! Guess it was kind of a luck-of-the-draw situation with this version.
Sorry to hear that some of you got some bad copies. It sounds like it isn't a pressing-wide issue though, so a good one is out there for you! If you can't get it with this version, perhaps the standard black or 180 gram version may be a better choice.
Anyways, completely happy with mine! Heard this album not being a fan at all of Pharoah Sanders (didn't like the screaming sax he did with Coltrane) and had my mind completely blown. What a fantastic spiritual jazz--classical--electronic...mix album? Definitely a multi genre mix that just works well all around! Easily in my top favorite albums list now, and it pushed me to try some of Pharoah's other albums. A few weeks later (I kid you not) he's my top favorite saxophone player next to Coltrane and the sax side of Eric Dolphy. I'm absolutely addicted to the spiritual sounds of his later work, and slowly became to appreciate the out-there sounds of his earlier work too. I honestly feel like I misunderstood his playing for the longest time, and didn't give it a fair chance to begin with. Now I find myself playing a portion or all of this album or another album with Pharoah Sanders daily.
Thought I'd take the time and share this while sharing the experience with my copy. Thank you very much to Sam Shepherd, Pharoah Sanders, The LSO, Luaka Bop, and everyone else that worked in creating and putting this album out there. This will undoubtably become a timeless piece of music people will --and will also introduce many others to Pharoah Sanders and perhaps a few steps further into jazz or classical!
