Bensonhurst CD owner (band signed well, Tower R, Midtown), overpriced vinyl. I play CD. Type O sucked audiophiles.

I’ll be the first to review the 2024 Rocktober release on the green/black swirl. Appears to be a direct repressing of the 2021 with ROGV-079 in runouts. Super clean and dead quiet pressing after a spin clean. Maybe cut slightly low, requires some volume but beautiful sound quality! I’m loving this one!!

Hey, I got a question for all you fans. Was October Rust originally released in vinyl back in 1996 in the US? I am looking for some information about the original vinyl release, but there is only and netherlands versions in discogs. In 1996 it seems there was only CD release.

Great pressing! Sounds amazing! I thought it was a bit expensive... but I was wrong! Mandatory buy for any TON fan.

This pressing rips. Zero static noise. Absolute thrashing beast mode dynamics. I am listening through a Sansui 9090 amplifier and an Audio Technica lp40 with a nude stylus. It is epic!

Cover art sucks on these ROG releases. Just sayin'. They aren't true to the original. The colors are way off in the logo and title, too saturated.

Sadly agree. I am a huge TON fan and absolutely love October Rust, but it is one of the most digital sounding metal recordings of all time. Even Josh's synth, the 'piano' at the start of Love you to Death is such a mediocre sounding Casio synth bank tone. There's nothing warm or rich about the recording itself. The songs are fantastic but every second of October Rust is glazed in this digitized sheen that is symptomatic of the era in which it was produced. Prime CD era, "digital is the future", most studios couldn't run away from analog fast enough. Digital was cheaper and much easier to go back and splice and edit, but it's just a shame because imagine if October Rust had been recorded properly, Josh on an actual grand piano on some of these songs, analog recording of Pete and Kenny, none of the digital 'plastic' toms and bass drum (start of My gf's gf) sounds of Johnny's drumset. That would've made this one of the most legendary and iconic recordings - truly the goth Beatles "White Album" right here. But instead we're stuck with a fantastic album forever confined within its digital sheath.
-
I would recommend washing these before you play if by chance you aren't doing this already. After that it is pure enjoyment.

Same stuff here, Green Man cuts short. Shame there are no lyrics on it, trees are also printed very small on the inside. For 25th Anniversary its pretty mediocre even tho price is steep
