Great sounding piece of vinyl here. Low end is both thick and tight. Mids-highs are crisp and clear. Strong and powerful when you crank it up (for the neighbors!). Great press here.

This album is just purely amazing. Absolutely defining what heavy metal is all about. The production is amazing, vast, and heavy here. Every song is fantastic and it is really just a flawless album. This original LP sounds absolutely incredible. I was lucky enough to snag a sealed copy. This thing sounds incredible. Popping on my copy throughout “Love Bites” but could probably be taken out with a deep clean. No louder than the music so not a worry. Amazing record. So happy to own a good clean original copy.

I was 7 when this album came out and I thinking that the album cover was awesome and now that I’m much older I still stand by that observation. Not only is the album artwork amazing the songs inside are a classic example of Judas Priest kicking ass with very few exceptions. If by chance you haven’t had the opportunity to listen to this masterpiece and you’re on the fence about spending your family’s grocery money and causing them to go hungry don’t hesitate buy the album!!

Here it is, the '84 follow-up to their masterpiece "Screaming For Vengeance". "Defenders" picks up where that left off, going heavier and faster into the British Metal genre. The writing is fairly good, the technical execution stunning, and the album contains a few memorable earworms.

Highlights include "Freewheel", "Sentinel"(with its "Sinner"-like midsection breakdown), and "Night Comes Down".

Soundwise, the album is tracked beautifully and mixed well, with the exception of some massive gated drums. There's some emphasis on lower mid-range frequencies which adds some mud to that range. Compare this with Dio's "Holy Diver", in which low mids are carved out and upper mids are emphasized to clean up the ensemble mix. Also, this album has less high frequencies, sounding slightly muffled versus "Screaming".

Pressing is great. 4 stars. Recommended.

Honestly the only "weak" track on this album is the titular closer, the rest are absolute bangers! The sound quality is also great, its rich and punchy, yet also retains a high level of detail. A worthy successor to Screaming for Vengeance, and the cover art is absolutely iconic.
