Edited 2 months agoJust Pulled this Classic out... The wax is flat, rare light surface noise (musta got lucky), and the sound (there is a touch of mud but not bad (it has always had a touch, I believe to combat the highs), the bass is audible yet not punchy but it never was, the guitar breaks through cleanly, the vocal line is clear and on top of the mix) all in all, is good on my set-up...
(Fluance RT-82 w/Acrylic Platter, ATN-XP cart/5 stylus. Nobsound T3 Phono Amp, Aiyima A07 Pro, Kicker KB6B, & 2x Polk PSW10 Subs...Simple Low Cost Setup)...Happy Listening -
Good quality, little surface noise, its a nice heavy weight. I like to peel slowly and see as well. Amazing record.
-
Way to much surface noise, light crackling throughout the album. No issues with the mastering itself.
-
Very nice re-peelable banana. This version really makes the recording pop. Couldn’t be happier owning it!

Edited 3 years agoReissue of 1967 album...For me "Heroin" with Lou Reed is the total price of ission...Driving and forceful and raw with emotion, Reed delivers more than BIG TIME on this cut...Version is 180 gram VINYL...Lots mention it sounds muddy and is poorly recorded...Just all, this is from 1967...Few advanced recording techniques have happened since then...Noticed that my album has a big gouge out of the outer rim...Doesn't reach the tracks so it plays just fine but I guess that means my record is hard core grunge and taking the hits...So be it...

Edited 3 years agoWonderful reissue and pressing. This vinyl weighs in at 217 g. Despite the lo-fi original recording, this reproduces it nicely.

Edited 4 years agoDeservedly a classic album! But the sound on this version is muddy and compressed. I don't have an original pressing for comparison, so I don't know if this is a problem with the original mix, or with this reissue specifically. I suspect the latter, given the prevalence of digital sourcing for so many major label reissues. Anyway, it doesn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it probably could have been done much better.

a timeless album that genuinely everyone enjoys. seriously this is what i put on when my parents want to hear some music
-
Sounds good to me.. they fixed a few things here and there (first bass hit on in the sunday morning intro-it was decaying flat on my 1969 greatest hits-here it is in tune), the vocals are focused (compression?) in the quieter parts. Package is stunning-iconic artwork.
