Is the 25th Anniversary Edition remastered? I know it does indicate "vinyl remastering" but I'm wondering if that ONLY relates to the bonus live tracks...?
The 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition digital files sound identical to the original digital files to my ears.
The credits indicate George Marino having mastered tracks A1 to D2 and Damien Renaud mastering tracks E1 to F3 (bonus live tracks).
George Marino was the man who mastered the original album in 1995. He could not have remastered the 25th Anniversary Edition in 2021 because he ed away in 2012.
So if George Marino did indeed master tracks A1 to D2, then this is the original, 1995 master of the album and should not be listed as a remaster. -
in my album, records 1 and 2 have a background sound - in the quiet sections. As in the intro of song 3 on the album

Can someone analize this album with MAAT DROffline MkII?
Please, someone tell me if this pressing has better dynamics than the 2007 pressing. -

Edited 3 years agoIt's funny, I'm giving this record a second listen through after initially picking it up last year and that "pulsing sizzle sound" that an earlier reviewer so aptly described has almost completley abated. When I used to work on cars and we would run into problems that would seemingly fix themselves, we called it "car magic" (no, I was never a licensed mechanic). I feel like some car magic was bestowed upon this particular pressing; maybe my (soon to be extinct) M44-7 just had to carve out the grooves ever so slightly upon first listen, but I kid you not, it sounds much better the second time through. I have the German 2007 pressing as well and while both versions kick serious ass, I feel like the separation of instruments are slightly better on this one. It also goes without saying that this is one of the best metal albums of all time and is still unparelleled in many ways.

Packaging is great, but there is constant noise and cymbals sound awful, especially Self Bias Resistor at 00:30. It's a 8/10 in my opinion.

Forgive me my English, I compared the original edition and the re-edition. Unfortunately, the miracle did not happen, but this is not a bad release in general. The Reissue added readability in the upper middle, but it also became somewhat tedious with the added compression. The bass became less, on the original it was dense, large and fast. The vocals have become thin, the highest frequencies are missing. As already mentioned, there is constant noise in one channel. If there is no money for the original, this is a good buy, but the original is still the standard.

Edited 3 years agoI'd like to say that this Fear Factory Demanufacture release is a super great release. Well, it's not - but it's close.
But there are some issues I have with it, so i will write down the ups and downs:
pro:
+ cover and gatefold design are absolutely fantastic, good print nice and shiny
+ the quality of the color effect pressing. these disc look stunning and fit to the overall Demanutacture design
+ the discs live in great black polylined inner sleeves. I wish more records would come in sleeves like these
+ it's not in shrink wrap but a fitting proper outer sleeve
+ the music sounds really great, with good bass and dynamic
+ cool poster
cons:
- in the quiet parts a clearly audible pulsing sizzle sound on the right channel on all discs (best heard on headphones)
- at the end of one side one can clearly hear the next song starting then interupted by the runout (bad QC)
So all in all almost a really great release. But only almost. -
I agree with below it's an excellent package, quality cover and yes it's shiney so will show up fingerprints unless like me it went immediately into a plastic double album cover. The vinyl, which does look really stunning, sounds really good too comes in proper quality polylined inner sleeves.
I have asked Run Out Groove how many they pressed as not on their website like normal but no reply yet....
As all record shops in UK have copies I'm assuming thousands have been pressed.... -
The overall dynamic range in the triple LP set is a real improvement over the original CD. I can especially hear Burton's vocals, Rhys Fulber's keyboards and electronics, and Raymond's drumming much more clearly. The art reproduction is excellent looking but because it's a glossy finish, it will leave behind oily fingerprints if you touch them.
As a heads-up, there is an audio goof after Dog Day Sunrise, which a bit of the intro of Body Hammer can be heard.
