Edited 4 years agoI have a couple of issues with this release, and some of these points also apply to Laced Record's earlier Resident Evil releases.
There's a TON of clicks/pops on this particular vinyl, and I think the problem lies with the supplied inner sleeves. There's dust/debris inside of them! This was easily noticeable because this particular release is a translucent green color, and the debris was white. This is easily fixable, but it's a shame regardless, this shouldn't be a thing at all.
Ontop of that, side C showed signs of non-fill, which sounds like hiss. Luckily this mostly happened in between songs, but why is it there at all? There's plenty of records out there (including Laced's earlier releases) that do not show this issue.
The packaging itself looks great as always, but there's some minor gripes I have with this as well. The tracklist is fairly decent, but appear out of order from the original release. I get it: this is a compilation and not a full representation of the original score, but I feel like the order in which they appeared on the original CD would have been preferable, so you can "listen" how the story of the game it represents progresses. Going from Jake and Sherry's campaign music to Mercenaries stuff, back to campaign music is strange! The same thing happens with the Chris and Pier's aircraft carrier music; they appear out of order. Small issue, but it's a thing for me regardless.
Ontop of that, the written tracklist is strange; they first use regular numbers, then go back to roman numerals (Speeding Bike 1 / Speeding Bike II). This is sloppy, c'mon!
The records look fantastic (as they all have) and the packaging has been stellar and uniform. This is the best thing this Resident Evil series has going for it and Boris Moncel should be praised for his gorgeous artwork. I'm not sure if I'd have picked Simmons for the front cover of 6 personally, but it fits the record regardless.
All in all, this was quite the disappointing release for me, and the last few other RE records are all kind of the same, with the vinyl for 5 being nearly unlistenable. I personally hope that Laced Records starts to take quality control more serious, as the sound issues hamper the listening experience quite a lot. I luckily own the Japanese import CDs of these releases as well, but it's kind of sad that I can't properly enjoy a record that costs this much and need to resort to them instead.
