Scored one from Half Priced Books for 14 bucks. Mint - jacket, sleeve, vinyl are mint. Gave it a good cleaning and I think it sounds terrific. Love this album.

Just scored a used copy of this for $16...The sound is pretty crappy. A/B-ed it with the CD and the CD smashes it.

Muddy, lacks punch. I expected a good bit more... Only $16 but will prob be sold back.

Took a couple of cleanings, but the record sounds great. I'm surprised a record with this length can sound this good on one LP.

Sounds a bit muddy, but far from unlistenable. Overall was satisfied with this pressing.

I wish people would stop reviewing records simply for the amount of surface noise they possess. That and the fact that a record needs to be played loudly. It's just a reminder why I should never listen to discogs reviews.
Everyone with this single disc pressing had great material to review, because this record sounds like dog shit. But alas, they care more about surface noise on a metal album than the actual music...
I'm struggling to find the words for how bad this record sounds. It's a mess. That's really the best thing to say. The mastering sounds like every band track was cranked to peak and the engineer just said "fuck it" and sent it to be cut. It is soooo muddy. Really idk if I've heard an album lacking separation this bad before (outside of overly compressed cd reissues). The single disc pressing makes a mush out of it, when this album deserves room to breathe and express. I had to turn it off halfway through the first side it was so bad.
A double LP version of a 50+ minute long album should not be too much to ask for. And yes I know they did one, but I'm not paying that price. The single disc should've NEVER happened, and the double LP at 45 rpm needs to be in-print for around $30 tops.

Just picked up this pressing- thought for $17 I couldn’t go wrong, and I was right! I’m not sure about what others have experienced, but after a thorough wet clean, the record sounded excellent- I’d say better than both the recent Blood and Thunder (pinwheel bone and translucent blue) and Blood Mountain (green/yellow marble) reissues. Noise floor was very low, barely any audible except in the lead in groove, and indiscernible during tracks. The music sounds surprisingly deep and punchy for a 1LP 33rpm release, especially for such a lengthy album. They really crammed the tracks in there, but at least with my copy they did a good job at it! No muddiness, vocals are clear and detailed, and there’s a pleasant degree of separation between each instrument/layer which makes each track sound decently spacious. Mids are especially nice, as the guitar, when taking center stage, delivers with wonderful clarity and richness, a stark opposite of the somewhat muddy mastering of Blood Mountain. No doubt the $250+ 45rpm edition sounds better, but for under $20 this is a solid choice for an AWESOME album. I just wish relapse printed the title and gold detailing in that same semi-metallic ink that they used on Remission, Blood and Thunder, Call of the Mastodon, and the recent Death reissues- it would have definitely gave the package some nice value.

The crossed out matrix xxxxxxxx, hidden underneath are 1-517931-A on side A, and 1-517931 -B on side B , it’s the same matrix runout as the expensive 45 rpm pressings.

Great sounding LP. I don't know on what set was played by other reviewers but on my technics 1210 and at440 it has full spectrum of sound, great highs of all cymbals, tabourine in Oblivion is like in my room. Perfect soundstage.

Any thoughts on how these single disc represses sound? I'm worried about the sound quality since this album is a solid 50 minutes. Lot to squeeze on one disc.
