Stunned Guys* – Get This Motherfucker

This has to be one of my alltime fav hardcore EP's. As everyone stated Get This Motherfucker was indeed a huge hit which was def. cained a lotttt. I think this track also was a start of the slower hardcore movement after years of fast BPM's which kind of slowly developed from that period onwards (later called Newstyle in late '96 - early '97) because it was quite a slow track in BPM and couldn't be compared to much else released at that time.

But for me the real gabber gems are Peace To The DJ's and Beat Is Coming, especially that long break in Peace To The DJ's track was just so cool and that buildup to another massive bounce rhythm. I used to love this type of harder bouncy gabber so much and I these 2 tracks were played a lot at the harder parties like Hellbound and later on the night at the famous Hellraiser party's. Standing still was no option and would result in simply getting hammered away from the dancefloor. even the snaring breaks would slice right through you at the hardest soundsystems I've ever experienced back then too, which def. added to the experience of these kind of hardcore tracks. Hellraiser was famous for building massive speaker towers the size of small apartments, where you could even almost sit in that large is how they were! (and which some freaks with probably already eardamage did so)..... The area near the speakers in the corner was where you could walk in and out of the main hall and was always empty as your ears and stomach couldn't handle walking ed it too close...you would literally feel your organs get rumbled around that heavy of a bass and kickdrum.

Neophyte were masters in creating perfect slamming DJ tools with their unrivalled sound and heaviness in their kickdrums and the cool thing I think from those days too as a recordbuying gabberhead were the solid EP's you could buy in hardcoreland, always loaded with multiple tracks. I used to play a lot of A2/A3's and B-sides which were usually the harder, rougher and bouncier gabba tracks. Good memories from this EP for sure!

The track "Work that body" contains a sample from "Noise Connection - A.U.T.I.S.", you can hear it (obviously speeded up) in the original 1992 track from min 0.37" and in the Work that body starting from min 2'.25".

I would say that "Get This Motherfucker" is the track which put the Stunned Guys at the top of the most popular hardcore acts. While the Stunned Guys had released several decent tracks before and did a lot of fine remix work too, it is this collaboration with the other king of the 'core Neophyte which surely put them on the top of the scene and made them internationally famous. Neophyte was of course already ultra-famous, and wasn't certainly this release which made him popular. But this release sparked off a new legendary production team and certainly rose Neophyte to new heights. Perhaps it is the success of this release which brought (more) together Holland and Italy in Hardcore .

Get This Motherfucker is in my opinion the best track of 1996. It appeared on tons of compilations. What surprises me is that there have never been remixes of it - of course as far as I know!

Together with Neophyte's "Always Hardcore" under the Bodylotion alias, this 12" is the defining hardcore sound of 1996.

"Get This Motherfucker" became real phenomena in hardcore scene as it conquered dancefloors all over the world and brought huge success to Neophyte & Stunned Guys. It was released in many hardcore compiliations and played in most famous raves. Nowadays it's still loved by hardcore fans and producers.
