Major distortion on the beginning of side A and my copy is slightly warped. Otherwise, the album plays well with little noise throughout. Arctic Monkeys really need to release an audiophile version of this masterpiece.
-
Not bad! Minor surface noise here and there but it may just need another clean or two. Sounds good, no warp, poly lined sleeve is a nice touch. For 22 bucks I can’t complain!
-
Mine shockingly sounds good! There was like one or two pops party anthem but that tends to be the part of a vinyl that gets more iffy. Overall I was lucky compared to some comments I see below.
-
Agree with others here, just sounds a bit flat and sad. Not bad per say, but expected better dynamics perhaps. Very little surface noise on mine to be fair.
-
First problem- massive amounts of surface noise. For a fresh pressed record, this is well beyond normal.
Second problem- fingerprints on the inner label. Very poor qc.
Third problem- Side B stamper used for both sides. In other words, I have no tracks from Side A, I have two side Bs.
I have bought around 200 LPs in the last 2 years. This is by far the most hilariously bad example of quality control. I’m not actually mad (this is going right back to the store), I’m impressed that a pressing facility could be this bad at their job. -
Well... Its okay.
I don't know, but mine record souds really flat. But I think that album is just sounds like that.
It's really loud and groovy, it has no pops or cracks, but there is not so much depth in the sound.
But I still really like this record. -
Not sure if it warrants a separate release or just a variant, but I recently purchased this version from my local record shop (Sleeve stated Made in USA) with the above runouts, and the pressing was garbage. Tons of surface noise and pops/cracks, and some visible imperfections in the vinyl itself. Sounded no better after a wet clean. Got it replaced (on the replacement, sleeve stated Made in Canada), which is 100% perfect and sounds excellent. The runouts of the Made in Canada version are different. There are stamped numbers in addition to some etching.
This is such a great album, so it's worth going through returns to find a decent copy, they do exist! -
I didn't have any luck with my copy.
Side A was pressed off-center, badly enough to easily notice the altered pitch, specially awful on A6 No. 1 Party Anthem. A1 started off with a lot of crackle. B1 had a repeated "tchic" for most of its duration. Side B played warped, as well.
I do believe there are great copies out there, though. Eventually I'll give it another try.
