Eleanor Rigby and She Said She Said sound pretty sharp and harsh. Vocals sound a bit distorted in those songs. But the rest of the album sounds amazing, incredibly dynamic.
-
VERY Treble-y. Taxman and Eleanor Rigby are a bit harsh but the dynamics on the rest of the album are really amazing and the copy I have looks new.

While probably being a bit more trebly than an original UK cut, this pressing has some really impressive dynamics that make it feel almost as spread out as the new remix in places.

Edited 3 years agoYou ever feel like you never heard an album before? I just listened to this album and all I can say is great. I have never owned other than Capitol versions (I have a beat up original) and the 87 2009 cds and the shm japanese cd. and the 2012 version stereo and mono...phew...that being said this is my favorite...JL and GH's vocals just cut thru the mix with intensity. The 2012 sounds really good but its "safe" and lacks the bite of this version. Love it. Want more Bass...turn on your sub woofer....it pounds...but..has very accurate and note for note tone...you can even clearly hear PM playing bass chords on some songs...as a bassist ...I am impressed and this is exactly how I want my bass to sound...accurate...there...and not BLOATED and mixed in with the bass drum. Let the bass drum do its job ...there is no need to mix the 2 in the mix. In this way the Japanese and frankly the Brits have it right. I can also compare this to my original 1966 US version. The US version does sound REALLY good...PM's bass is incredible...especially on Taxman. Everything is just really really good. But....it lacks the articulate and precision of the Japanese version. IMO you need both.

Edited 4 years agoJapanese pressings are certainly divisive. But man, I have to say, this is *exactly* how I want a Beatles album to sound. Now, for those unaware, Japanese pressings do tend to 1) lack bass and 2) sound a little bright. But personally, this is how I want The Fab Four to sound. And when George's guitar comes in on the solo on "Taxman," you'll know nothing else matters -- this is a great press. Doesn't hurt that most copies are going to be super clean and be made from virgin vinyl.
Hot tip, if you don't care about the obi, you can pick up the flag series pretty cheap and these are *top* players copies if you care about audio quality. Japan doesn't mess around and their reputation for being audio and Beatles freaks is well earned. -
hi do the UK flag series sound similar to the UK original pressings since its using the same master? thanks
