Beautiful clarity and warmth on this pressing for me, especially compared to the digital versions I am used to. Feels livelier. Some songs sound better than others--"You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" and "The Night Before" especially were highlights. It's not perfect--I notice some peaking and fuzz on "Ticket to Ride" and "Dizzy Miss Lizzy," but those are noisy songs as it is. Slight underwater feeling on "Help!" that is interesting but not super obtrusive for me. I have no idea how this compares to more acclaimed pressings out there, especially say an original UK Parlophone mono, but I know that it was nice enough to make me quite happy content.

This 1976 Japanese pressing sounds wonderful, very lively and vivid, with ample low end, crisp percussion, warm vocals, and a wide and spacious soundstage. This kills more recent pressings sourced from the 2009 digital remasters, which used George Martin's 1987 remix. My copy plays like new, with virtually no surface noise.

Edited one year agoI bought this pressing based on a recommendation from a Beatles vinyl enthusiast. This may be the best pressing of this album. Apparently, this album isn't mixed that great for any pressing -- so I went with probably the best choice. Everyone else may want to just stick to a good cheaper copy of this album. Related, I love my Japan Rubber Soul. For Rubber Soul, pressing makes a difference.

Edited 2 years agomy copy is solid NM, but the voices have too much saturation, especially on the inner songs. this press sound very "Bassy", very poor of highs , really muddy

Hearing this was like hearing it for the first time. The best I've ever heard this album sound. It's hard to imagine much better than a clean copy of this.
