I just bought this box, but I don't have a sticker on the back made in ? is this a different version?
Thx -
The music itself is great of course, it's the Black Keys after all.
However, all of my center holes were a very, very tight fit, too tight if you'd ask me.
Flakes of vinyl at the edge of the center hole indicates bad punching.
Sound on most of them is a bit distorted, even when using a microline stylus to reduce IGD.
Sounds like clipping to me.
There's also a bit surface noise, but nothing out of the ordinary.
All the disks arrived with a smudge on one side, but I managed to clean that up.
Sleeves are all plain paper - I would've preferred a PVC lining, considering the price of these things.
Except for that, they're all nicely flat, well centered and comes in a sturdy cardboard box.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Quality tested using an Ortofon 2M Black and VM540ML on a Technics SL-1200G. -
3 things:
1. My copy came sealed, with 2 stickers on the cellophane. The color-changing cover does not appreciate it. Even after warming with a hotel hair dryer multiple times, there's still 2 spots that appear lighter than the others.
2. Sound quality is great, very clear & punchy.
3. While I love the idea of 7" box sets (Hot Fuss has been in my wantlist for years), it is very tedious to actually sit down and listen to. 18 tracks with a side flip between all of them. Not very convenient. Get the 2xLP 45rpm version if you can. -
Great sounding LPs. Didn’t have the Brothers Album so the 7” were a great alternative. Happy with it!
Update after 6 months: Sounds great but the extra work of flipping or changing the record after every song is not that pleasant… -

Call me crazy, but I'd be happy if more bands released albums like this. Each of these tracks sound clean and full. Really makes me appreciate all of the money I've poured into my turntable setup.

I have to say, that I am somewhat disappointed for the money spent: singles come in unpadded sleeves and there is not once a code... I have the Brothers album three times now and have to pay for a MP3 copy. :D
That temperature changing cover seems to wear off pretty fast though, mine already has some parts where it's not getting totally black again.
Sound quality on the other hand seems to be pretty good. No surface noise or hissing. Also the records sound very detailed and full.
And I don't have any issues with the size of the holes as somebody else mentioned. There is a bit space to move the record while the adapter is in the hole, but not too much or different than on any other 45 I own. -
Sound is clear, every single is flat as a penny and I’m not hearing anything on the surface. Quality and depth really improved versus my ‘regular’ Brothers edition. Music is rich, bodied, clear and has the right amount of panache to it.
1 thing though - is someone else also experiencing that their single adapter is too big, or the hole in the singles too small? -
