I'm amazed by how negative some of these comments are. These remixes are absolutely wonderful to me. Quite a bit more faithful to the original stereos than later remixes, yet still massive improvements, but significantly better balanced and much more lively. I also prefer many of these mixes to the redos on the 1962 - 1966 remix.

The bass on this pressing is annoyingly loud. Stopped listening after Penny Lane. (I started with side 4). -
Honnestly this pressing does not sound great at all - it s very dull and liveless - any blue or red uk pressing from the 70’s sounds 100 times better -
Edited 2 years agoGreat collection. However, in 1967 singer Engelbert Humperdinck had The last waltz topping the charts for 5 straight week, preventing the double A single Strawberry fields b/w Penny lane from The Beatles from reaching the top spot. The big question remains here is: why is Penny Lane added on this '1s' collection? -

Sound quality is superb. They've done a great job remastering these tracks - it breathes new life into classic tracks without overdoing it, as they did with the subsequent 2015 release. The pressing itself is superb. Soundstage is very dynamic and energetic, with excellent clarity and presence. -
