Rephlex mailed out a second batch in June 2005 to those who had not received their order. This second batch included a free copy of "Analogue Bubblebath 5". This distribution of "Analogue Bubblebath 5" was unannounced.

The holy grail of RDJ material but cuckoo ruins this album, better left to just on AB4, except for that it's stellar start to finish.

Track 4 is worth owning this for alone. No one else makes stuff so original and well rounded. Break driven with a deep bass punch and an influential 'grimy' pipe sound, all along with Aphexs' trademark synth. Easily the best track here.

I found a placeholder/marked sleeve of this in Disc Union in Osaka, Japan. I was overjoyed to find it only to then discover that someone had replaced the vinyl with something else. The person who swapped it obviously knew its worth.

Note: there are 2 versions of the album. The original 90s version that was leaked to the internet (I had the mp3s of it in 1996) and the altered 2005 version. Ignoring the removal of the swirling noise (which I always thought was a flange effect that was an intended part of the album) track one has new (annoying) musical elements in it. Just one drum, but it really ruins the song. I haven't been able to find differences in any of the other tracks but I couldn't swear to them being exactly the same. And yes, the closing track (cuckoo) is EXACTLY like the AB4 version.

The first track is mesmerising. The rest is pretty boring. Really not worth the price tag. And if you really need this record, go check the unofficial Analogue Bubblebath 1-5 bootleg. It's all on there for less money.

A1 is one of my fave tunes of all time. Very otherworldly and impish melody going on, like the soundtrack to meeting Pan on a foggy morning in Ireland. In regards to the bootlegs, there are two widely circulated versions, one with shit sound quality and one that sounds a lot better, luckily I have the decent sounding one. I used t think a lot less of this EP when I had the lower quality file rips but now I love it. Most of these tracks are still in the demo stages so you gotta judge it on that basis.

220-250 people are lying. there were only 20-50 of these released with the analord series when those 20-50 people fell victim to a shipping error and didnt receive one or more of their analord albums. this album was sent, unreleased, to only those few people with their albums they failed to receive the first time.
