I can confirm, like others here, this is a hidden gem. The remaster is fantastic, forward sounding bass guitar, clear strong vocals and adequate Moon drums. The bonus LP's are equally good. It's a BARGAIN at around £35 on ebay UK if you can find one. Definitely better than the recent half speed remaster that sadly is a bit to rich and over bass'd.

Sounds GREAT. Plus, if I’m not mistaken, it’s the only place to get the New York Record Plant outtakes + Young Vic on vinyl.

Edited one year agoGreat sounding pressing. Analog I believe, pre-echo at beginning of songs. This is highly undervalued. It sounds like a fantastic first pressing. I am targeting this for about $200+. Beats shootouts.
The young Vic sounds amazing -
i got THIS VERSION when it was released back in 03.... fantastic inner sleeves and great high quality records with great sound here, there was a reissue years later i know......

Re this 2003 pressing: Can someone confirm how the liner notes titled 'Who's next and the Lifehouse Project' is presented? Is it a separate fold-open insert? Thanks

Like others on this site, I recently purchased the 2003 issue with no barcode sticker on the back, only to find plain white inners (albeit poly-lined). Disappointing not getting the printed inner sleeves but the pressing overall seems quite good. I did note some minor static at the end of Baba O'Riley (Record 1). It certainly seems like there was an '03 repress w/plain inners somewhere along the way. Cheers!

My version was purchased in 2011 or earlier, but doesn't have printed inner sleeves nor the sticker over the barcode like the 2017 issue on here (https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/The-Who-Whos-Next/release/10795326).
So there are alternate versions of this, I just don't any other details about where I got it. -
Also, no issue here in of quality of the 2003 vinyl. No noticeable hiss or pops. Clean copy.
I was able to buy this cheap from a store going out of business. Who's Next is a brilliant-sounding album, and has some absolute classics on there, with great use of the ARP 2500 and VCS. It's good to have a side of alternate takes and oddities. Also good to have a live set from the same time period, featuring many songs from Who's Next but also a solid collection of earlier classics. I do find this too be a bit of a tiring listen straight over 6 sides. For my tastes, best to go with the studio album or the live album and then revisit the other side after you've allowed a bit of time to chew on what you've experienced. -
Ok to be certain here folks I refer to my 2003 version bought the week of release. I am not sure what the comments refer to here but he's it is probably people entering their thoughts under the wrong listing.
My 2003 copy sounds absolutely brilliant, no noise or crackles but I always do a Spin clean wet immersion of all my records even new ones. Most pops etc are dust or manufacturing residue as you all should knoe.
So for a 2003 copy, as long as it is a genuine 2003 version will give you hours of pleasure BUT it must be fully cleaned. So please put your comments under the correct listing, it does help?
Regards. -
Edited 3 years agoBought years ago, playing it again today. Sounds great, nice quiet pressing.
I see that it's being re-issued, various sites offering pre-sales.
