Beautiful mastering and pressing! Aside from a tiny bit of surface noise at start, this is clean and punchy. Extremely enjoyable. -
Start with the B side and let the first song blow out your system, must play at full volume
very good pressing -
Just getting into PJ Harvey after overlooking her work since being curious when Down By The Water was getting radio play. I don't have much to add here. The pressing is fantastic. What makes this special to me is the wide variety of production choices that all come across so good here. It has rumbling bass on some tracks, strings on others, intentionally distorted vocals over here, rocking, punchy guitars over there... all of it sounds great. This is a good one to test a new piece of hardware on, as it runs the gamut on the full range of what you would want to put to a test -
i got it yesterday at b&n for 31. not bad for a vinyl like this. the outer and inner sleeve was not torn or bent, just like it came out brand new; by the way the record was quiet, which is what i've never heard with other records. 10/10 -
Edited one year agoI find this release grating. The 2001 release is more nuanced and less shrill. Comparing the quality of PJ Harvey's voice, the 2001 release seems more human.

Edited 10 months agoGreat music, beautiful quality of sound (like on all other PJ reissues) - crisp, deep and detailed. Decent quality of vinyl on my copy.

Sound this pressing is in my opinion great. The definition of guitars and voice i crystal clear. Some clicks which mostly go away after a good cleaning, but nothing that impair the great listening experience.
