This remix is actually quite good. As far as the sound on this pressing compared to its digital counterpart, I found the LP to have a more natural sound, whereas the digital version has a, to put it redundantly, more "digital" sound. It's certainly still got that muddy Goats Head Soup sound, but compared to the original mix, the remix seems to add more spaciousness to the music. Overall, I'd recommend giving this one a go if you're unsatisfied by the original mix of this album.

Edited one year agoI have to disagree with some of the reviews here. I have a OG UK pressing, a OG U.S. Presswell, an original monarch, and a 1977 reissue. This is by far the least muddy. Far clearer vocals and I’m able to hear things I can’t in other pressings. The mids and highs are more pronounced too. Much more dynamic than my other pressings. Monarch was second. Good remixing in my opinion.

Extremely dissatisfying for a half speed master.
This is empty and dead in comparison to my 73 OG press. -
After lot's of rewiews of that issue I expected extremely bad sound. But realy I like it on my Ortofon 2red - Pro-Ject RPM 1.3 Genie - Cambridge AXA35 - KEF Q150.

Isn't this release a remix by Giles Martin? I don't see it any where on these new 2020 editions of GHS.

able product -- really not a great mastering. It's not muddy, but it's not terribly crisp. Mids are overdriven and loud. So far I've read far more negative than positive reviews of these Abbey Road half-speed jobs. They clearly afford no benefit at all.
And while I've never had a truly bad GZ pressing, I definitely wouldn't go out of my way for one. -
I don’t have an original to compare but sounds sonically equal to my other Stones originals. Every bit as good as the DSD ABKO remasters also.
