Edited one year agoThe fates are a funny thing. I went to both of these shows thinking we were saying good bye to the Who. I was a huge fan of both bands and it forced me to go Shea Stadium two nights in a row. I hate stadium shows and these would be the last I would ever attend. But how could I not go? The Who were such a huge band for me and although this tour was far from their peak and they just released the worst lp of their entire career it was my duty to go say goodbye.
The Clash on the other hand were still smoking hot and although they had just recently lost Topper I tried to see them whenever I could. Here in NYC they played a lot and I was able to see them many times.
But as I said the fates stepped in and what was to be my last Who shows ended up instead being my last Clash shows!
It’s a funny world to be sure ,unpredictable to say the least. So I’m happy to have this well recorded memento of the bands final days. After this tour with the Who ends they’ll play only four more shows ending up at the US Festival in Ca fighting Van Halen for who goes on last. Joe will be a massive bitch at that show and soon fires Mick for being a pain in the ass.
To this day the remnants of The Who are still out there and Pete still sounds amazing.
Sadly we lost Joe in 2002 as he was finally finding himself as a great solo artist releasing three outstanding lps in a row. RIP Joe you are sorely missed especially these days. Mick went on to form BAD and for a while there were just so awesome. Especially live, where is a live release from them????
Ah the fates what can one say. Meet the new boss same as the old boss indeed! -
Never understood why this pretty average slot set was released when there are so much better recordings and concerts out there like the Lyceum XMAS shows etc. I am sure Mick has plenty more recordings sitting in his library that we have not heard before either.

Don't own the vinyl, but this is a good live show and a welcome addition to the Clash's rather lacking live discography. Topper Headon is clearly missed, but OG Terry Chimes holds his own and shines at times, though overall the performances seem a bit subdued compared to their earlier work, probably as a result of fatigue from relentless touring since their formation.

Anyone else have issues with this release? Received a copy where the b side label had air bubbles and caused it to not play flat on turntable. I returned this and received a better copy but it is moderately wapred but plays fine. Probably just going to give up and not return it for a second time.

This truly captures The Clash at their best, a must have for any fan. Sound quality is good, so is packaging. I'm not a big fan of the artwork itself, but that's just my opinion. Anyway, I buy them to listen, not only to look at, so it's not a big deal.
