Edited 5 years agoYes, the sound is overall very good. Some crackling sounds on side four on my copy though.
However, the packaging is a disappointment. The artwork is most likely poorly scanned from the original artwork. Lyrics and photos looks blurred, and the whites are washed out in the B&W photos. I am baffled that a major release is treated this way. You can sometimes see it on cheaper reissues, but I had higher expectations for this one.
Additionally, Steve van Zandt is spelled Stevie van Zandt. I don't know if I should laugh or cry... -

The wait is over. Sounds incredible, feels so weird to have a copy. I had a original awhile back sadly had to sell it. The lack of gatefold kind of bugs me, but I think the original had similar packaging? Powerful listen, hadn't listened all the way through in awhile, glorious glorious sound on this pressing. Don't hesitate. Curious how it sounds to the original press now.

Great pressing quality indeed. But I have no idea why an album like this couldn't be re-issued in a nice gatefold cover instead of the 2LP single sleeve. I know that the original pressing had the same packaging. But still. Springsteen's latest album Western Stars had such a detailed, lovely packaging. It'd be nice to see some effort put into the re-release of older albums too.
