This and its companion LP "Ella Swings Gently with Nelson" are among Ella's best albums, along with the multi-disc "Ella Fitzgerald Sings the George & Ira Gershwin Songbook" and "Ella Sings the Johnny Mercer Songbook." The latter is the only one of Ella's now-legendary songbook albums to be devoted solely to a lyricist. The common thread among these albums is that they were all arranged and conducted by the late, great Nelson Riddle.
