Edited 2 years agoAs others have said, needs a serious mid scoop! Needs more treble than bass, sounds great after though. Not gonna on a record just because I have to EQ but it's a bit mind-boggling that it was released this way. Always sucks when I go back to play it after forgetting about this issue.

Agree with a lot of the reviews here. Boomy and super flat at the highs. Almost like the sound is muffled. Needs lots of tone control. I’ve compared with a CD and tonality is way off. Great album by an awesome band, and you can still enjoy the record, but lower expectations on this pressing. Great on my collection :-) ahh little to no noise perceived.

Bought and returned this for replacement. I have to say this is mastered beautifully and when the tracks are playing it sounds amazing, but both copies have so much surface noise and visible damage (tiny scratches) to the records. Most probably the sleeves caused this in shipping.
Honestly love this album so much I will probably try for a third one day. -
My copy is very clean with very little to no serface noise. However, on Side C there is a skip. Currently giving it a clean with Record Revirginizer, will check back with results.

Edited 3 years agoI'm bummed I paid $45 for a Pirates Press record. Mastering could have been way better. Pressing is too quiet, and sounds muffled. The music is great though, so at least there's that. Also, labels for sides C&D are the Themata labels.

A lot of surface noise, the sleeves housing the discs disintergrates like no others I've seen, get them out and into polylined sleeves ASAP!

Overall I'd rate the sound quality of the vinyl 7.5 / 10. I mark hard so that's an okay score. It's a little too boomy in the bottom end and flat in the top end, and the soundstage is a little narrow, but there isn't much surface noise and it's very listenable. A bit of fiddling with tone controls and it's fine.
