Listening to the promo mixes & b-sides records, there is a lot to be desired. For one thing, the tracking order put the more important selections towards the inside of the tracking. For another, the levels are all really low. Like, half of what the original releases were. The result is a muddy and garbled quality that's oddly tiresome to listen to.So far the best example of both of these problems is the last track on side 6, "Little Red Corvette (Special Dance Mix). It sounds terrible compared to the original release on 12" 45 rpm, and that's an OLD and worn out record in my collection. Honestly, and I hate to say it, but I really wasted my money on this; rather go get the digital . It sounds better than these vinyl pressings.

Is it me, or the original album sounds incredibly compressed on this edition ?
I have an American OG, quite a tired copy, but it sounds much punchier, much more open and also much louder.
This new mastering is tiresome to listen to at some point, everything is boomy and murky. -
Everything about this set is awesome. The pressings are clean, the sound is right, the package is top notch.

Edited 3 years agoThough these unreleased tracks mostly sound great, I heard lots of pops and cracks in the vault tracks and some of the promo mixes and b-sides. Anyone else have this issue? Otherwise, all my pressings are astounding :-)
